How many more chances for Michael Vaughan?

Filed Under (Greece) by on 05-09-2008

The English cricket team is unbeaten in 1 Test and 4 ODIs since Michael Vaughan resigned as captain and took some time out to play for Yorkshire. Whilst his former teammates have been taking wickets and scoring runs, Vaughan has averaged about 10.
These facts might lead you to the conclusion that Vaughan wouldn’t be in the touring squad for India if it were to be picked today. The selectors might agree, which could explain why they’ve delayed the squad announcement so that “a few people out there playing for form” have a chance to justify their possible selection.
It seems that the selectors don’t want to leave Vaughan out, even though the current team has stupendously high morale and is on good form, whilst the only form Vaughan is likely to have found recently is a P45. This smacks of jobs for the boys.
Rant over, for now.
